That’s exactly what you can expect – good music, good musicians, and plenty of toe-tapping – when Angel Town Combo plays at the George Nakano Theatre on Friday, February 14th, and Saturday, February 15th at 7:30 pm.
About Angel Town Combo
Angel Town Combo is LA’s premier soul jazz, ska, and improvisational groove collective. Founded in 2013 by drummer Mark San Filippo, Angel Town Combo features some of the best musicians in the LA music scene.
Band members include sultry vocalist Liela Avila, Scott Steen or Kyle Chris Lawrence on trumpet, Gabe Davis on bass, Jason Myers or David Marcus on guitar, Kyle O’Donnell on saxophone, Aaron Provisor tickling the ivories, and band leader Mark San Filippo on drums.
For the past six years, Angel Town Combo has played at venues all over Southern California. They regularly appear at the Geffen Playhouse, Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill, and The Barkley, and have been the featured band at the KJAZZ Wine & Jazz Summer Concert Series in 2016, and South Pasadena’s Eclectic Music Festival in 2018.
In 2017 they released their debut album Angel Town Combo – Live in Hollywood, and are currently recording an album of all original songs (due to be released soon).
Angel Town Combo, Part of the Studio Cabaret Series
Angel Town Combo is part of our Studio Cabaret Series. The Studio Cabaret Series is a way to enjoy musical talent and tasty food in an intimate setting; it’s like dinner theater for your ears! The performances are set in the George Nakano Theatre at four-seat cocktail tables. Meals for the series this season are prepared by the talented chefs at the Red Car Brewery.
Dinner for the performances of Angel Town Combo will be Red Car salad, chicken piccata, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. Plus, goodies from the always delicious Torrance Bakery will be available at intermission.
