(NOW, while all things are fresh in your mind,) it’s your turn.  You’ve done the exercises in class, and heard speakers guide you to the next step if you want to present your story in a larger format. Tonight it’s YOUR turn to tell a tale in the student show.

Six-minute story ideas will be submitted to Mariana. She will give a bit of feedback personally to each tale submitted, then curate them into a lively couple hours. Expect funny, poignant, travel, coming-of-age, OMG moments and basically the “times of our lives” six-minutes at a time. We also will have one of the winners of Long Beach Searches for Greatest Storyteller, tell the winning tale of the year they won.

WRITER OR AUTHOR?
Special Guest Dr. Jim Turrell

What is the difference, you may ask yourself. A writer has a manuscript, an author has a book. Have you considered taking your manuscript to a longer form?

In our brief time together, Jim Turrell will advise our workshop attendees on the necessary steps for getting their story to its first draft. Using his template, you’ll learn editing techniques and vivid language skills on how to make your story more powerful and to come alive. Dr. Jim Turrell is an author, speaker, teacher and minister. He has penned five non-fiction books and is regarded as an expert in communication. He developed two popular courses, “How to Speak Without Notes,” and “How to Write your First Draft.”
