New Orleans Jazz ChristmasWith Halloween over and Thanksgiving just around the corner, Christmas is already in the air!  Shelves are stocked with Christmas lights, decorations, and gift wrap.  Before you know it the spice of cinnamon, the rich smell of gingerbread, and all your favorite carols will be filling your senses with Christmas cheer.

It’s easy to get swept up by the comforting nostalgia of Christmas songs.  Every time you hear “chestnuts roasting on an open fire” you can practically feel the thick, woolen sweater and hear the crackle of the fireplace (even if you don’t actually have a fireplace).

But at some point the nostalgia becomes over saturated and you might find yourself for fresh, upbeat, and totally soul shattering Christmas music.

That’s where A New Orleans Christmas With Jeff Bordes and Friends comes in.  This funky yet sentimental, overall unique approach to Christmas music, is guaranteed to get you on your feet and ready to march in a Second Line through the aisles of the James Armstrong.

About the Show

A New Orleans Christmas With Jeff Bordes and Friends combines the spirit of Christmas with the foot-thumping, toe-tapping, jump-out-of-your-seat soul of New Orleans jazz into one rockin’ jazz performance.

Last year Jeff Bordes and his crew performed to a packed crowd who found the show “amazing.”  The jazzed up renditions of traditional holiday tunes had the audience singing along – and on their feet cheering.

“Wonderful! I can’t wait until next year!” Portia B, Los Angeles, CA

“A very lively show!” Syndie L, Los Angeles, CA

“My all-time favorite concert!” Kevin G, Danville, CA

Thanks to the popularity of last year’s show, Jeff Bordes has brought back his Friends to entertain Torrance and South Bay residents with more showstopping songs that are like a holiday gumbo for your ears.  And this year he’s upped the ante by including powerhouse jazz musicians from the Bay Area group The Dixie Giants.

About the Performers

Lead man, Jeff Bordes, is a renowned jazz trumpeter from the Bay Area.  Throughout his storied jazz career he’s played and recorded with some of the most well-known jazz musicians of today.  Musicians like Jon Faddis, Branford Marsalis, Alex Acuna, and Giovanni Hidalgo.  He’s toured all across the United States and Japan with groups like the Bill Berry Big Band, Dizzy Gillespie, and more.

On the keyboard and vocals will be Don Lewis.  The only way to describe Don Lewis is “legendary.”  He began playing piano in high school and has expanded his interest in music to teaching others and engineering musical instruments.  Don has performed all over the world with symphony orchestras and as a solo artist.  He’s also worked with Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendez and Michael Jackson as a studio artist.  Every performance is infused with his vibrant energy and spirit, the perfect match for an evening of jazz!

At the microphone will be songstress Meredith McHenry.  Meredith has been singing since she could talk!  After starting a career in corporate America she made her triumphant, and long over due, return to the world of music after appearing on “Karaoke Battle USA”.  Her powerful, soulful performances wowed both the audience and judges and propelled back into music.  This is one singer you definitely won’t want to miss.

Also set to perform: Ken Cefalo on Guitar, Casey Jones (The Dixie Giants) on Clarinet, Jason Thor (The Dixie Giants) on Trombone, and Nick Pulley (The Dixie Giants) on Sousaphone.
