SoLA South Bay Contemporary & Zask Gallery Contemporary Art

Creative San Pedro artist Ben Zask will be conducting two children’s art works at 11 AM and 2 PM on 24 June at the Southbay Festival of the Arts at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Children will transform simple objects provided by Ben into beautiful sculpture that they can take home.

In addition to his artwork, Ben and his wife Peggy Zask founded the highly regarded South Bay Contemporary. SoLA is a non-profit art gallery supporting advanced explorations in Contemporary art. The organization produces art exhibitions that expand on current perspectives of our diverse culture and connects the South Bay community to a wide range of local, national and international contemporary artists.

Destination Art Artist Studios and Galleries

The artists from Destination Artists Studios and Galleries will display their award winning work at the TOCA Southbay Festival of the Arts. Studio managers and pastel artists Margaret Lindsay David Wolfram will be among the talented artists represented.

Torrance Art Museum

WHY ART MATTERS!

During the Southbay Festival of the Arts, the remodeled TAM, Torrance Art Museum, will be featuring a highly relevant exhibition entitled WHY ART MATTERS!
The exhibition curated by Max Presneill, Museum Director and Curator, is in response to the potential defunding of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Museum has invited leading curators from across Southern California to nominate artists that reflect upon the project.

Participating curators include: Connie Butler, Dan Cameron, Kio Griffith, Nancy Meyer, Kristina Newhouse, Paul Schimmel, Max Presneill, Tyler Stallings, and Catherine Taft.
Artists include: Chaz Bojorquez, Beatriz Cortez, Finishing School, Linda Pollack, Liat Yossifor, and more!

Mark Common Paul’s Photo Creative Photo Academy

We are excited to announce that highly regarded professional photographer Mark Common, Creative Director: Creative Photo Academy and Vice President: PAUL’S PHOTO will be exhibiting at the inaugural Southbay Festival of the Arts, Saturday June 24 form 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. Paul’s images have been featured in many publications, including Outdoor Photographer, PC Photo and Photographic magazine.
He will also bring images from the Creative Photo Academy. The work of his expert student’s is well known throughout Southern California. Last year 21 photographers from the Academy had multiple photographs accepted for the Orange County Fair completion and several won in their categories.

Summer Studios Arts Academy

David Parsons, Adjunct Professor of Fine Arts at Cal State University Dominguez Hills and founder of Summer Studios Arts Academy, will lead a series of children’s workshops in drawing, painting and sculpture. The workshops will run every 20 minutes from 11:00 AM to 5:00PM on Saturday, 24 June at the TOCA Southbay Festival of the Arts.
Located in Lomita, Summer Studios Arts Academy offers ongoing art classes with renowned instructors in drawing, painting, cartooning, pottery, printmaking, mixed media, and photography.
